Carrera was born to Xavier Carrera and Elsita Huerta in Guayaquil, Ecuador. His siblings are Leopoldo, Xavier, Felipe, and Juan, and he is the oldest of the five. Carrera attended the Balandra Cruz School in southern Ecuador, where he studied. He began his modeling career in Ecuador, where he appeared in fashion shows and advertisements for Toni, as well as for De Prati and Abercrombie & Fitch. Football is one of his main loves. In 2007, he was a member of the Ecuadorian Emelec sub-18 team, who won the championship. Carrera joined Ecuadorian club Barcelona Sporting Club in 2008 and played there until 2009. 1st Carrera continues to play football for a local Miami team in addition to his acting job.
